Britton Cousins Reunion

     Francis and Mary Ellen Britton arrived in Loup County in 1887. Seven of their grown childrern and their famlies arrived from 1886-88.
     The seven children each filed on a homestead on the north side of the North Loup River from 2 miles east of Taylor to 5 miles west of Taylor.
     Eighty-three decendents attended the reunion from eleven states at the Community Center in Taylor on June 20th and 21st 2009.
     The Albert Britton branch had 6 in attendamce while the Ida Ferguson had 7 present. The Robert Britton branch had 3 in attendance and none came from the Hulda Britton Cassidy branch. The Charlie Britton Branch had the most in attendance with 54 present. There were 2 present from the Mary Britton Wirsig branch and 8 from the John Britton branch.
     Francis and Mary Ellen still have an impact on the area as a great, great, great grand-daughter, Marcia Vodehnal of Country Neighbor catered 3 delicious meals.
     Four grandsons of Francis and Mary Ellen were present at the construction site of a new office building for the Klimek's in Burwell on Monday morning June 15th.
     Melvin Hyde, a great grandson of Francis was observing Tom Dunne, a great, great, grandson putting in the water and sewer line. Mike Boli, a great, great, grandson was doing the trenching. Ryan Klimek, a great, great, great, grandson is the contractor for the project.
     The hosts for the 2009 reunion are to be congratulated for a job well done, Alan and Peggy Britton of Syracuse, Nebraska and Carol Wells of Ashton, Nebraska.
     The seventh Britton Reunion will be held in Taylor on the 3rd weekend in June 2011 with Bill and Sue Britton of Foxboro, Wisconsin as hosts. Glenn and Marilyn of San Luis Obispo, California will be co-hosts.
